About Us

Hammerdown Festival is Sussex’s largest rock & metal weekend, running on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July 2025. This year features 36 bands across 2 stages within the same building: Chalk and Dust, in the heart of Brighton Hammerdown is located next to Poole Valley coach station, with National Express and other coach services calling there regularly. It’s less than a 2 minute walk from Old Steine, where buses from across Sussex start and finish their journeys, with government capped £3 bus fares making this a super affordable method of traveling to Hammerdown if you are based Sussex. The train station is a 15 minute walk from the venue, with regular trains heading in from London, Bedford, Southampton, Portsmouth, Hastings, Eastbourne and more. There are various car parks in Brighton, including an NCP car park a 10 minute walk away, and spaces along Madeira drive, a 5-10 minute walk (depending on how far along you park).

Our
Story

History
Hammerdown was founded in 2015, initially under the name Pitch Up! Festival, by Harry White and Bradley Clark. Harry continued after Bradley moved onto other ventures, and arrived at the name Hammerdown a few months after the first event, going on to run the festival through 2016, ‘17, and ‘18. The event went on hiatus for a year, in order for Harry to learn more about business, finance, and marketing. The covid pandemic in 2020 turned that 1 year hiatus into 4, when Hammerdown made a comeback in 2022. Since then, Hammerdown has had hundreds of attendees each year, moving to bigger venues, and has hosted the likes of InMe, Esoterica, Thecityisours, South Of Salem, Fort Hope, Skarlett Riot, Seething Akira, Acres, Confessions Of A Traitor and many more.
